Darrell Walters, LMFT, MDiv
Darrell is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Los Angeles. His treatment approach is informed by the latest research in neuroscience, psychological theories and developmental perspectives. He is passionate about identifying root issues and believes healing occurs through genuine, authentic connection.
Darrell frequently works with neurodevelopmental and life-adjustment challenges. This includes executive functioning issues like ADHD, or other challenges like moodiness, depression, or anxiety due to high academic pressure, life stress, or divorce. Darrell also works extensively with technology-related issues: healthy-mind balance, boundary setting, as well as mindfulness practices for relaxation and expanding frustration tolerance.
Darrell speaks extensively on technology, creativity, and the brain, and developed Tech Savvy Parents a brain-based approach for parents to help balance the screen-time chaos at home.
Darrell has extensive experience working with individuals and families. He has trained with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, within the David Geffen School of Medicine.
In addition to his clinical work and research, Darrell has worked with Daniel J. Siegel, MD, and the team at the Mindsight Institute, developing resources based on an interpersonal neurobiology approach. Dr. Siegel’s books include Mind, Brainstorm, The Whole-Brain Child, and No-Drama Discipline, best-selling books on practical strategies for nurturing the developing mind.
Prior to joining the team at Mindsight, Darrell worked for Apple, where he helped with the development and implementation of training programs, workshops, and media & technology camps for kids, all centering around helping people maximize and optimize the use of technology in their lives.
