Neuropsychological Assessments

Neuropsychological assessments can provide valuable insights into yours child's cognitive abilities and challenges. Our assessment process is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of your child (e.g., cognitive, academic, attentional, behavioral, and adaptive). It includes a review of their medical history, detailed behavioral observations, a variety of tests to identify their neuropsychological strengths and weaknesses, and input from those who are familiar with your child's functioning. This information is used to create a comprehensive profile of your child's abilities and needs in order to help outline criteria for specific interventions, accommodations, and educational planning.

The follow domains are often assessed:

  • Executive functioning (e.g. planning, problem-solving, decision-making)

  • Attention and concentration

  • General intelligence (e.g. verbal and nonverbal ability)

  • Learning and memory

  • Language skills (e.g. receptive and expressive)

  • Reading, writing, and math skills

  • Visual-spatial skills (e.g. perception and visualization)

  • Motor and fine motor coordination

  • Mood and personality

  • Social and emotional functioning

  • Adaptive functioning (e.g. daily living skills)

  • Payment and Insurance

Payment. The testing fee is due and payable in full by the first testing session. Any other payment arrangements must be made in advance of the first testing date. This office will provide a statement for your insurance company at the end of the evaluation. We will not directly bill your insurance company. You are responsible for all billing and collection of reimbursements from your insurance company.

Insurance Reimbursement. We are not in-network on any insurance panels, in order to provide the highest quality of care without arbitrary restrictions. The first priority is your child and your family, and not the interests of an insurance company. Please check with your individual insurance plan to see about their reimbursement policies. For insurance inquiries, the CPT codes for Neuropsychological Assessment include some of the following: 90791, 96136, 96137, 96133, 96132, 96116, but other codes may be additionally applied. Reimbursement often depends on your child’s diagnosis and on the policies of your individual policy. A superbill will be provided at the end of testing, with appropriate codes, but this does not guarantee insurance reimbursement.
